A Little Pixie Dust Magic from the North Maine Woods

Many years ago, while visiting in the Cathedral Woods on picturesque Monhegan Island, I saw my first Fairy House. That encounter was my inspiration in creating a Fairy House Kit that can be used to make your own whimsical Fairy House. Fairy Houses can be tucked in a special place in the garden to provide shelter and home for delightful wandering pixies or even in the home to bring their fairy magic inside. Fairies are said to have magical powers such as the ability to change the seasons, weather, or other aspects of nature. They move swiftly and become invisible blending into their surroundings. They love the color green and dwell on hills, in woody dells, and even underwater. And they love music and dancing and love to play tricks. What charming creatures!!!! Of course the North Woods of Maine with all of its woodland splendor is a place that fairies love, so what would be more fitting than a Fairy House made with all Northern Maine Materials.

Use your imagination and my fairy house to create a whimsical, magical abode for your tiny winged visitors. I have used twigs, branches, acorns, and pinecones to make mine. What else can you think of to use? Maybe pebbles, or shells, or some dried flower stalks. Or maybe create a Fairy Princess house using your own glitter, feathers, old costume jewelry, ribbons, and more! Fairies are known for “borrowing” trinkets from the home so include a few “fairy findings” for more fun! The possibilities are endless. Be creative and imaginative, but please use only dead natural materials to save the environment and not kill a living plant or tree.
